generally all down pipes are bolt on but it can get a bit tricky if the old down pipe has been on for a long time, cause the bolts getting hot and cold all the time it can be a pain to get it off. just make sure you use a penitrating oil on the bolts and be sure to use a new doughnut gasket when you replace it. oh there will be another gasket at the end of your d/p aswell be sure to use a new one there aswell. If the d/p you are putting in has a high flow cat you may want to get a o2 simulator which go's in place of the one that is after the cat. using the simulator will not affect the performance as this sensor is only serves to tell you if the cat is not working right and has no bearing on emmisions. good luck. oh you may want to change the rest of the system later to a all mandrel bend exhaust as this will free up more power.

yea i have oil penetrator stuff to remove bolts, but
1) do i need the o2 simulator?
2) is there wiring involved in hooking it up?
3) is the zzp DP the best dp for the money?

sorry so many quest. just tryin to get all my facts straight lol :icon_lol:

I've got the stainless steel version & the quality is excellent! Very good fit & assembly. The only wiring is unplugging your o2 sensor & plugging it back in. I didn't didn't use a simulator with mine.

Hopes this helps

I recently installed the ZZP 2.5 DP with U-bend delete and hi-flow cat. No complaints here. Installation was pretty easy, though accessing the manifold - DP connection was a bit tight.

I recommend an air ratchet with an extention.

Good product though.

ok thnaks for the input, i have an air gun for the tools so it shouldn't be a problem, i just wanted to make sure it was a good product.

yes it will bolt directly to your stock exhaust. but let me ask is your car supercharged or naturally aspirated....... The reason for the o2 sim is due to the fact that most times after the new high flow cat is completely broke in it will set off your ses light (service engine soon) because the way that last o2 works is it just checks to see if the cat is working. your computer does not use this sensor to reg the emmisions but it generally will set the code. so you can see if doesn't set or wait til it does and then get the sim for the o2 sensor. but it looks like you also got some good info from the other members here. hope this helps. Consider later changing the rest of your exh. out with a manderal bend kit. due to the fact that with one part good only will help so much and trust me you will be glad after you change the rest of the exh out. OH do you have a cold air intake yet???

my car is supercharged and i'm planning on buying the 3" DP with a FWI fronm intense as my first set of mods. later on i wanted to purchase a pair of magnaflow mufflers off the zz performance website as well. being a high school kid and all i don't have a ton of cash to throw around, so i'm tryin to spend $400 -$500 at a time

Well it sounds like you are on your way to having a sweet ride. But remember to do it right the first time wen you mod your car cause there is nothing worse than having to do it over again. Be sure to take your time with each mod aswell. Oh and try not to grin to hard when you really start to get it to jump off the line, you might get to like it!! :driver:

I liked my catted down pipe from zzp. The only thing I would get also is gaskets. I putnew gaskets on when I put mine in and didn't haveany leaking problems at all. The only thing I had toget used to was a little ticking coming from the flex joint. Other than that it wasa very good mod and one I should have done earlier than I did.

yea i can't wait fr the mods to start, i'm also planning on puting in the handling upgrade from gm direct w/ the sway bars n strut tower. has anybody done this and if so does it ahve a decent impact on handling? i still have stock suspension and becasue this is such a checp upgrade i figure it can't hurt

Speedbuilt Frt/rear swaybars and Front/rear GM STB's were the first mod I made to my GP. I can tell you that is made a big difference for me. Once I finally got around to installing springs and struts, the car handles great.

I have installed all but the springs and struts myself, and it can all be done in the driveway on a few hours. I will second one of the posts above....take your time and pay attention to all the little details. Doing self installs also helps you learn about your car.

As far as the different brands of sway bars etc... it boils down to a price and personal preference. I went with the Speedbuilt swaybars as that was one of the more reasonably priced options about 5 years ago. I am not sure what is selling these days. As for the STB's, again, price and appearence will detemine your choice. I had read reviews that put the $10 GM STB's against the more expensive ones and the preformance was equal. The GM STB's will require some drilling for the mounting in the front, but nothing complicated.

Have fun and enjoy it.

Ciao,

ok thanks for the info, this i great news becasue i have a heated garage i can work with bascially any tools i need, i jus wanted to make sure that gm's product was a decent one and that it didn't require a whole lot of cutting, drilling etc.

sounds like i'll be ordering it shortly lol
