I was told that you turn the little nut on the top of the housing, but that never seemed to work for me. What is the correct way to bleed it so i don't end up getting in the system again?

if youre doing a flush just get a Prestone flush kit so you do it right. the screw on top of the housing is to relieve any air bubbles that might be in the system. also unscrewing your knock sensor will let the remaining coolant you have left out of the block.
I always take off the Tstat housing, and fill the LIM with coolant from the start. There isn't really any need to bleed the system if the LIM is full. Just my .02 :icon_roll
Yeah, that little screw on top of the housing...just get the engine hot, and keep it running, and open the screw. When it stops spitting air at you, close it.
