Honestly, I'd avoid the SSIC due to sealing issues/minimal cooling, and go for their new Stage 2.5 core. You can piece together the rest of the setup for ~$200 (VW radiator, Bosch pump, etc.), and there's simple $20-40 methods of modifying fuel rails/logs to work with appropriate parts (AN hardline adapters, small steel tubing cutter, etc.).
If you want to avoid spending 2-3x you need to for most upgrading, it's highly beneficial to learn the universally available parts, to only rely on vendors for specific pieces (especially with how fickle/niche/fading this market is).
