Hi,
We transplanted a series 2 3800 supercharged out of a 2001 park ave ultra for a road racing need. Engine ran great - we were running 65 psi oil and 180 water
15 minutes into running, during a set of turns, the oil pressure dropped to 40 psi, water was was still at 180, then with in 30 seconds the motor started to rap and it was shut down immediately. The oil pressure did not drop below 40 on gauge and it did not trip the 20 psi light. But the motor is seized and we have metal flakes in the oil. I would mark it up to a bad junk yard motor - but this was the second one with same story in two days.
Any thoughts on why this would happen - the first motor we did notice some sludge in the valve covers when replacing the gaskets, we cleaned out what we could.
Any suggestions on what to do to lower the risk of this failure on these motors?

you'll probably need an baffled oil pan so the g's of taking a turn dosent starve the pump of oil. not sure they are even avalible for these cars but ive seen guys custom fab oil pans for drag racing for this reason.
