So whats the story on the heads and cam? Heads a set you reworked or purchased?

I worked the heads myself. The heads I made the 11.55 pass on I sold to fieromojo about 11 months ago. The heads that are on my engine now I reworked, but they werent quite as wild on the intake side, as i was more interested in keeping port velocity high, for the turbo setup. The exhausts are huge though. Even though people gave me crap for hogging out my heads I still owned them all when I put down 468 hp at the wheels .

My orignal cam is an erson grind, I dubbed it the X grind because I am the only person I know of with this profile. www.fierox.com/camspecs.xls

Since then my car got sponsored by erson, and they cut me a turbo cam. its similar to my blower cam, but they reversed the duration. puts more on the intake than exhaust. Seems to work good.

The guy i have doing my heads said he could not believe how much could be done to them. My next purchase is cam. I did not know erson offered a cam for the L67. I am going to run Comp cam. Im just having a hard time on spending $1000 (after jet coating) on a set of headers from WCF after hearing all of other problems with them , but dont see that there is many alternatives.
How many trans you gone through? Im having issues with mine now and do not put that much power down. Mine still runs but makes few good noises, I check axels/joints so now pretty sure it is in trans.headers , cam ,3.o pulley and little bit of juice im hoping to turn decent times. I have been debating on dropping 125 jets in 1 time before trans explodes and i swap to series2, just to see what it will do. I hit 7.59's twice at track. pretty consistant 7.61-.62's Im sure the series 2 will be fun.

Erson does regrinds. They take material off the base circle of a stock cam, to in a sense, add lift to the lobe. Then you ofset the difference with a longer pushrod. Some people are against this, but mine have worked fine. Just look at the numbers.

That really sucks about the price of those headers. Ive never been drunk enough to send that much money to WCF for headers. I just go out in my garage and build my own. Someday when I get a little better facility, and a tig welder, Im going to start building headers to sell. And the price will be right. It might be 18 months though before Im ready.

I am still on my first trans, weve rebuilt it twice, and the latest time, couldnt figure out what was wrong with it (not building pressure at the shifts) so I sent it to John Goebel in Waco texas for a major overhaul. Hes building a custom pump system that allows it to peak at 300 psi at the shifts. Instead of the pressure climbing to 225 psi, then dropping off to 50 psi at the shifts, then not shifting and hitting the rev limiter. Theres not a whole lot you can do to make a 4t60e strong enough to handle 600 hp, but weve done everything imaginable for this buildup. What really helps in reliability is the fact that our cars are so light weight, they dont put alot of stress on the tranny. Unlike a 3500 lb GTP. Good luck man.

My car is an 87, differential was one build by Tom Wright and myself, final drive is 3.33, torque converter was stock 4t60e (FLHB)

that pass was done almost a year ago, on my M90 setup. The best time to date on my turbo setup (old turbo, the one I blew up on the following pass), was 11.72 @ 122.

Now it has a T66, and spearco 2-230 water/air IC. We are expecting 10's the first time back to the track. Just gotta get this tranny sorted out.
