Good evening guys n gals.
I've wanted to 'mod' one of these 3800's for rear wheel drive, and finally got my chance.
Pretty complete, was told it was from a '07 Monte SS. But can't positively verify. If there's any casting numbers or ___, Just let me know.
So, I've been looking at the pretty much flat aluminum oil pan. And wondered where side motor mounts would attach?
I don't know if I typed it in wrong, but google didn't come up with mounts that someone sells.
Also. wanted to mate to a T5. I think I have the bellhousing already. But if I get on Rockauto, is there a better year to get the clutch assembly from?

Thanks.

There's... A lot to unpack/correct here.

A) 3800's in RWD form in 95-02 Camaro's and Firebird's offer a lot of parts you can dig up from that application.
B) by 2007, the Monte SS was an LS4 5.3 V8, so you'd be looking at 2005 or older for Monte's with a 3800 (04-05 for supercharged option)
C) if it's still there, the block will have a decal saying the year and type of engine, although it's next to the A/C mounting hole and tends to get ruined over time (see below). Also, where the casting says "3800 Series II" or "3800 Series" is a quick way to know if it was a 2005-down engine, or 2006-up, once there were only Series 3's still in production for 06+.
D) by "flat oil pan" are you referring to the cast aluminum pan that goes on 04+ Series 3 engines in Grand Prix's and LaCrosse's, or Lucerne? Or a custom one without the typical sump, dry or otherwise, used in some swaps that re-route the oil pickup somehow?
E) most RWD mounts are bolted to the sides of the block (again, check out recent discussions here on RWD projects, where I posted various pics last week). The aluminum pans had one of the FWD mounts attached to them, under the harmonic balancer, but it's not a great spot to use for risky reasons.
F) for T5 items, also look at the F-body cars mentioned above, since there's a stock manual option with upgrades available. A member here posted a lot of info with his turbo Camaro build and lots of work on the manual transmission.

Label for an "04 Supercharged" engine block (car doesn't matter, as the items mounted to the engine are what differentiate Series 2 & 3, etc.)

😳 thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
I've been emersed in videos and joining forums to learn more.
(I'm more Old school 60's, 70's etc. And thought it odd that he said it was from a Monte Carlo)
But because of my ignorance on them, I just went along with him.
Thinking it was another engine option.

The weather hasn't been nice. So when I get it back to my storage. I'll look it over more..
And yes. Cast oil pan.

Another question..
I do the earlier RWD v6's have the same mounts, or only the L67-L32?
The 95 Camaro that I got the T5 from was a 3.4. but that car is probably long gone.
I'll just get on RockAuto and look at the thumbnails.

I believe the full run of L36 3800 F-body's had the same mounts 95-02 (95 was a mid-year change, I believe). Not sure how different the 3.4 or 2.8 was in older ones. Trans is probably same mount.
