1998 Buick regal LS.when I restart the car I still hear the ticking from the lifters that I replaced which is why I replace them in the first place. does it take a while for the sound to go away? is there a proper procedure to start this car after doing that type of work? I just put oil back in coolant back in and started it up. only rent it for a few minutes The ticketing is definitely lighter but still there.

Be mindful that a quiet, clean running engine will let you hear everything going on... Valvetrain operation, injector cycling, idle valve air scratching, etc.

If you want to try a slightly heavier oil or additive, and see if there's a difference, it's up to you. If it's more significant than I'm guessing, that is a different path.
