Are you sure it was the light bulb, I had the same problem took my dash apart put a new bulb in and it still fluttered on and off when ever it was on by the button on the shifter. go to pfyc.com and use thier instruction to put on the new shift boot to get under the shifter check the performance shift wires, if there raggedy or loose the connection kills out the perf light and shuts off the perf shift, take out wire cutters and cut out the harness and attach the wires directly to each other then electrical tape them so there are no loose ends.
After I did this my light cam on flawlessy, stronger and perf shift seamed to work better too.
