Was reading through a zzp thread from a while back Can I Install a Larger Blower for more Horsepower. It was about adding a larger blower for power but they talked about the Teflon coatings on gen 3 m90’s and epoxy on gen5’s so I’ve got a question;

Can gen 5 m90 rotors be put in a gen 3 to increase the efficiency? or are the blowers really that different so they won’t fit?

Just an idea. I’d like to hear your thoughts!

The geometry doesn't quite line up, and the way the Gen5 case is cast for inlet and outlet shapes is the primary reason for the efficiency gains. The coating change is a very minor difference in terms of performance gain, possibly just longevity of the coating.

If you get ahold of a Gen5, simply get the supporting items to make a full swap (75mm Northstar TB adapted, vac/PCV routing, and L67 Gen3 LIM can be gasket-matched to Gen5 if L32 one unavailable).

Ok sounds good! I’ve got a modified L67 manifold that has the top fully ported to fit a gen 3 SC with injector holes put in so I could keep my stock L36 heads. Same process apply? What would I need to do to change that Lim opening to make it fit? I appreciate the reply’s, you are getting my imagination going ;)

The GenV/5 extends the main opening about 3/4" further towards the snout on the s/c outlet. If you lay a Gen5 gasket on the LIM, it provides a template to cut the material (also might have a post to trim away underneath).

Alright sounds like the plan then, I’m just doing my best to reduce KR where I can right now and I’ll probably be throwing a gen 5 on in the summer so it’s handy to know all this right now. Thanks again!
