That's too bad. I was lookng forward to the posts and hoping for videos after everyone got back from IDD. I would have definately attended would it not be so far a drive from California. Hopefully I can find some other West coast 3800's and some vacation time to take a caravan with out to your next scheduled IDD. Price seemed reasonable to me.

As I already posted, the fact that the BuckeyeGoats rental is on October 15th did not help you. BuckeyeGoats draws racers from LS1GTO.com, LS1Tech.com, BuckeyeStangs.com, ChargerForums.com, ColumbusRacing.com and a few smaller forums. ...as such 90 racer from Columbus and all parts north are already racing that week.

As for price, BuckeyeGoats took in a $10 deposit to hold a spot in the rental. We filled all 90 spots pretty quick. The last few weeks we have been collecting the remaining $20. About 10 people dropped out this week and we immediately refilled their spots in the rental. ..why?? cause it's only $30!

Last year I was able to help you guys out and got a good number of racers from our fall rental to also enter yours also...but your fee this year totally prevented me from talking a single person into signing up here. ...believe what you want though.

...any racers here that still want to race this week let me know and I'll reserve list you for the BuckeyeGoats rental, we still may have additional spots open. That's the best I can try to do for you guys.

i havent registered yet was gointo today wow this sucks.
Its because of moves and people like this that this event has been cancelled.

When its announced, SIGN UP and the INTENSE guys wont have to worry about cancelling it again. Everyone wants to wait until the day before or the week before, WHY ??? WHy do you think there are discounts for people who sign up earlier, so that they will have a good idea of how many people plan to attend, thats why.
SHIOT, when I was going to all the IDD's and events I was usually the first person signed up. Ask Scott and Todd, they'll tell ya :icon_lol:

Like GTO1 said, the price kept me from signing up. I am signed up and paid for the Buckeyegoats rental on October 15, and I usually go to the Columbus Racing rentals. The most I have ever paid for a rental is $40- which I feel is fair. Not to flame you guys, but your price of $75 and $90 for us non-members is unreasonable.I know you'd like to keep it mostly a 'closed' rental for members only, but the other boards will usually let 'outsiders' sign up too. I really enjoy seeing the variety of all the different makes of cars at the rentals- makes for a lot of fun, too. Just my 2 cents

I'll take a $75 PRIVATE track rental anyday around here for even a ****ty track. :icon_redf

The more cars involved such as "outsiders" is what brings the price down. More cars = less $$ = Less passes per person. It's nicer on the pocket, but what about the people that planned on 6-7 runs and get 3? They leave pist too.

It's definately a downer seeing this event cancelled. I've attended 4 IDD's, but not any of the late season deals. With my limited vacation/days off, I dedicated a few to the spring IDD those times I've attended. Many people need to wait for the last minute and make decisions spur of the moment which is tough for both parties. With work, families, kids, yada yada, it's tough to get away for an hour to the store, let alone a weekend 700 miles away (CT).

I'd love to be there this year, but had to sell the truck to pay off a few loans. Don't plan on breaking without a way back again. :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Hopefully we can get the attendance back up for Spring 08. It's like a yearly wait with a countdown, like a 8 year old counting down to Christmas for us GP owners :)

hey folks.
I haven't been around much, but I'm always in support of a great time...

I would be there racing my wife's car if the event wasn't scheduled for the day we are to check in to Disney for our Honeymoon.

A note to all those who held out... it's a shame, it really is. I've had the opportunity to race at Norwalk with INTENSE a good number of times. Instead of spending 20 bucks a time to go to the local **** hole of a track, I would save my money and go twice or 3 times a year to ohio. Spending the money is greatly woth it...

I've spent more money at bars and casino's and had less fun then the parties at IDD, let alone the record breaking races.

Props go out to INTENSE to try to put this on as often as they do. As people sell their GPs and what not, even the companies that put on the National Grand Prix gathering have stopped citing low attendance. But INTENSE racing... I tell ya what a event they put on. I tell ya I'll be there in the spring to at least help other racers, and when I have my trans am track ready, you know I'll be there racing!

Well I am sorry for the problems with IDD. I did not have plans on coming however, I know a few people that were. I know that they were up set a bit. I hope that some of you will be able to come up to MGM. I know that there is nothing like Norwalk. (even though I have never been there) I have only herd GREAT THINGS ABOUT THE TRACK. Once again I am sorry to here about all this and hope that there will be a spring event. If there is and I have time and money You can count me in for sure.
Hope to see some of you at MGM. I am going to be the one posting the SLOWEST time of everyone...however I will have the loudest stereo there!!!

thats not really anything to cry about. for us new englanders we travel as much time for you to go to the track and back home then back to the track again 1 way. 4 hours for IDD is NOTHING.

its kinda hard to organize a big event when too many cars are out of commission....lets just go steal someone elses spotlight.... Rt 41 is centrally located for us ill., in, ohio, mich. guys, and as long as you dont pick on the wrong camaro, everyone will have a good time. not to mention, i can get my car trailored down there and maybe lay down a few 12-13 second passes (part thorttle)

I dont like to see it cancelled, but dont blame them a bit. I know I wouldnt eat the difference due to lack of registration year after year. if XX people arent signed up by the cancellation date, I would cancel it too. Maybe this will make others register earlier in the spring. ??

I'll take a $75 PRIVATE track rental anyday around here for even a ****ty track.
When the pricing was set, I did also think the pricing was high compared to other events and my advice was to lower it some to help attendance. Two ways to approach getting enough money to cover the event, who knows if it would have mattered. I am shocked how much people spend on their cars and then get so cheap when its time to run them to get the most of of their car at a great track and private rental. Similair to tossing thousands in mods at the car and not spending the money to get it dyno tuned to all work together perfectly.

This wasnt just a basic rental, they pay out the wazooo for the best track prep so eevryone can get great launches and the bigger HP cars are safe in the back half. We have all had traction issues at the track and its frustrating. It is usually not an issue at IDD with slicks/suspension set up to run. Personally, I used to travel to the east coast to set records late in the year when it was snowing here. Each trip costed thousands and many times I just made one or a few passes at a track not close to par with Norwalk. :/

See everyone at MGM just a little earlier. Lets hope traction at MGM is good this year :)

I can understand the lack of registrants...I think it was as much about the weather as it was about the cost IMO. Ed does bring up a valid point...we spend thousands of dollars modding our cars to get the most out of them, but won't spend the dollars to show the fruits of the labor. You gotta be willing to take the next step....and spend the money on the track, on the hotel, and all the other ancilliary stuff that goes with it. It is just as much about hanging out with friends, then it is about racing. Hell, people spend more on booze than the ever do paying for the event itself!!

I do think that come spring time, when talk comes up for this rescheduled IDD X, that there be some sort of discount given to those that had registered, and paid prior to the cancellation. $5, $10 whatever....as a gesture for those who were willing to register early, and come to the event.

You can't be afraid of the weather, or cancellation. If you want to race with the best track prep, at the premier facility in the midwest, then be prepared to pony up in the Spring. I know I will......
