Im changing my plugs today and noticed the old plugs have a strong gas odor. Normal?

I'd say you're runnin rich. But, then again its hard to tell since you DIDNT TELL WHAT YOUR SETUP IS!

I've smelled fuel on my plugs a few times also. Usually when I start the car in the garage for a minute to take it out into the driveway and change the plugs out there. Is that what happened Joseph?

John - that's basically the situation. I ran the car about 60 secs just to move it into the driveway so I can work on it - pulled the plugs right after that. So, is the fuel smell just a result of running a cold engine for a mere minute?

Yes. When you first start the car, the PCM commands a very rich mixture and slowly leans it out until eventually getting to 14.7:1. Depending on the ECT at startup, your commanded AFR can be as rich as 9.x:1. The fuel smell on a short cold startup is normal.
