We are finally at a stage where we are putting everything togeather for racing in October. The plan is to run the engine for month of testing and then have a look back in side. Thought I would show some pics and any comments/suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
So the build of a 4225 cc engine.
Step 1 Heres the crank, a beautiful mistake from Scatcranks, its from the old V6 with a 2 peice seal which we cut off and put a single one on to fit, lucky everything else lined up... stroke 3.75inches
Step 2 get a grinder and start cutting into the block so the rods will go around
Step 3 get some cometics gaskets and re bore the bolt holes so that you can use 1/2" studs all of the same diameter, no champhers.
Step 4 bore the block and heads to support 1/2" studs, we are also a little lucky that there is a little unused material in the block we can use to fully use the threads on the studs.
Step 5 get some more pistons from Ross a thick as possible without increasing compression ratio much, this time we have added a dome in the middle to stop the splitting and a couple of extra coatings from Ross. Get the thickest gudgen you can find forget about weight and put togeather.
and thats where we are up to.

Looks great Steven! We certainly don't get to see a 3800 that looks like that every day...

How much power did you end up making with your Stage 3 setup last season?

And how did you end up finishing?

What are your power goals for this season?

Don't you guys usually run against V8's?

And how much power does your typical competition produce?

Oh, and please show us a picture of what has to be one of the most efficient intercoolers of all. :D

Hi, you were quick of the mark!!!! have added some answers after each question.

How much power did you end up making with your Stage 3 setup last season?
700hp@5600 and 671 torque@5600, will video the next dyno run

And how did you end up finishing?
Horrible season at New Zealand champs, finished second to last. Oil temp problems 350F and water also to hot or to cold. Have revaluated oil selection and changed to RedLine racing 0-30. Gone back to the belt driven water pump to see if that helps with engine water cooling, might have been cavitating on long runs

What are your power goals for this season?
Objective is to run all day at 5600 rpms, so we have modified intercooler setup, changed headers and re directed air flow into supercharger

Don't you guys usually run against V8's?
Yes we have to compete with 660CI engines at the worst but main comp will be from 400-458CI engines, reliability is the key 500 miles of racing. We plan to strip engine on layday, change to a new supercharger and look at pistons/gaskets etc and change what we have to.

And how much power does your typical competition produce?
big boys 950HP, a lot around 700-800, but the all up weight of these packages is a lot more than us. So we have some advantage there.

Oh, and please show us a picture of what has to be one of the most efficient intercoolers of all.
Next week when the top is on the engine!!!!!

We now have the heads on Intense stage 3 with slp 1.8 rockers. We have spacer plate as well and the orgional covers, would be nice one day to have some metal ones. From pully is on for the Vortech, we have bent 4 cranks so far only the first inch or so. We have redesigned the front snout with a tapered clasp to move everything in closer to the front of the engine.

New primaries, 1 7/8" all the way, no stepped headers anymore big is beautiful get the heat out of their.

a little more progress has been made, in fact the engine has finally run and it sounds quieter and smoother and after a couple of minutes running it has to be lifted out of the boat as their is an oil leak somewhere under/around the the starter motor, but that will have to wait for a week as off to the US for business. No other major dramas so far, little ones, I cut some bolts too short holding on the intercooler top, faulty oil pressure sensor. enjoy

Changes made, full porting of inlet runners, exhaust primarys 1-7/8" Intercooler has own feed for jet until. Idling air temp into engine is 48F
