Can anyone shed some light on what P1404 code is? I don't have access to a Tech-II until early next week, so I stopped at AZ, and they pulled the code for me.

The OBD II codes only go up to the 800's.

Thanks in advance.

EGR valve stuck open. Pull the EGR valve and check for deposits on the pintle that would keep the valve pintle from closing or binding.

Okay, having never done this before--the EGR is located basically above cyl 6--a little to the right, with a little flex-tube that runs down to the exhaust manifold from cyl 6.

If correct, can someone offer instructions on removing. Is it just the two bolts on the side, and it slides off?

Any help one can offer is greatly appreciated.

Actually, it should be 2 nuts at the base of the EGR valve that holds it on. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the 2 nuts. There should be a gasket between the pipe and the EGR valve.
