I just removed the 3800 in a 1992 Buick century park avenue as it was shot. I replaced it with another motor everything went smoothly went to start it and nothing. No spark whatsoever so I did and icm wire test and I have battery power but when testing the 3k and 18k wires I received 9 volts and was constant even when turning the engine over by hand. Figured it was a bad sensor so I replaced it but still having the same issue. Any help would be great.

So I ended up getting it to start. Turns out my 92 icm doesn’t have a ground wire but the icm grounds through the housing I didn’t have the icm on the bracket as I was going back and forth between two icm’s to figure out the issue. Once grounded it fired right up. Only issue is when the car gets warm it won’t idle very well seems to be running rich. I swapped throttle bodies and that helped a little but under load like headlights on and powersteering being used the car does.

Went ahead and replaced the idle air control valve with the other engines with no effect so I bought a new one and got some vacuum connection and replaced some crappy hose!! It does idle now but when driving it does amazing until I get on it, above 3k it starts to buck and go wonky. I will try new plugs tomorrow. If not that maybe fuel filter? Or does that sounds like a bad FRP? Also the speedometer goes with the rpm to a certain degree then goes nuts I’ve never seen it still. I’m assuming just a speed sensor or is this a cable?

Bucking from my experience usually has to do with the mass airflow sensor. I would check the connector & the wiring going up to the connector and if you replace the sensor or swap it make sure its an OEM unit. I had problems using an aftermarket maf sensor some years ago to where it would start bucking going half throttle or more. Wasn't even throwing a code

I’ve been driving the car for a little over a month now and it’s been shredding belts. I’ve gone through 2 so far. The belt starts to slip off the back of the crank pulley only by one rib. It never falls off fully just goes till it shreds. The powersteering pulley and box are out of alignment somehow looks crooked and when I use a straight edge it’s off by a ways. I installed a new belt tensioner and bracket hoping it would help but hasn’t. I’ve tried shimming the powersteering pump to where it’s damn near perfect with everything else and I still have the issue. Any help would be phenomenal this is starting to become a pita.
