How do I perform a compression check and what values/numbers should it be at?

Did you buy a compression tester? If so, there's some good detailed steps in the box. As for readings, I believe they should be above 150 psi, but the main thing is that they should be all relatively close to each other (withing ~5% of each other).

it depends on your compression ratio, and how old your engine is, but the general guidline is no more than 10% difference, from the highest hole to the lowest.
