I live in the Pensacola/Ft Walton Fl area and no one here wants to tune my 2002 Regal. I have called all available tuners in my area with no luck. I have a new long block from Summit Racing with about 9,000 on the clock. Its intercooled with ZZP full header setup running a 3.2 pulley, CAI, 2.5 catback, 1.8 Yella Terra roller rockers, plus the usual mods. I have maxed out the injectors need to replace with 43lb and then tune. Last place I called I told the guy the PCM is off the shelf tune from Intense. He said they dont tune a PCM that's been tuned before even if its a canned tune. Would anyone know of a tuner in this part of the country..this is nuts

It was a practice of the off the shelf tunes from Intense (as well as DHP) to lock their pcms so nobody can change it. You can buy a ZZPerformance pcm & they will program it according to the mods you have. They will also email you the bin files to update if you have a programmer for any updates you do down the road. I don't believe they have the ability to unlock an already locked pcm so you may need to find a used one to send to them or just eat the core charge.

Thanks, but Intense didnt lock PCM's at least they didnt when I got mine about 6 years ago. I still have the orginal PCM if I was ever asked to swap them and that topic was brought up.

If you were closer to the Space Coast, I would have offered while visiting this weekend, but it doesn't quite line up to get over there.

The overlooked aspect of modifying these cars is that reprogramming/scanning/tuning is required from a very early stage. In the 2003-08 era, people were expected to buy a tuner and get on this learning curve to get the use out of upgrades. Since then, it seems people aren't as keen to buy an HPTuners and wade in the shallow end, slowly working their way to the deep end of tuning as they add more mods. This is the source of these issues, and it's either A) pay for whatever you can find for a tune from ZZP or a local rando... Or B) buy a tuner and get familiar with it.

Why not contact intense? If you scroll all the way down on their pcm page there's an option for $49.99 to modify your existing tune. INTENSE Racing: INTENSE™ Reprogrammed 3800 Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Me personally, I would rather someone who has experience with these cars do the tune on it
Yeah I thought of that. Their can tune I presently have has been great with a 3.4 pulley and 3 degrees of timing but I have gone past that with an with ZZP stage 2 IC and ZZP full header setup, that was a bear to install now on a 3.2 pulley any lower and I'm looking for trouble. with stock injectors.
I'm new to this area just recently retired from the Military my home town Charleston SC is no shortage of good tuners and most have dyno's. Everyone is just lazy here.....just might drive back to Charleston to get it done and stay at my ex wife house, which used to be mine also.. she will be thrilled

...b-b-but... You're the one who doesn't want to learn to tune your own car?

Alternate option: get a mini-AFC from ZZP, and make a basic MAF skew change to add the fuel you need up top. If you just monitor with an OBD scantool or gauge, you'll know if it's happy enough to rip.

Wrapping yourself in the DD214 blanket doesn't magically allow you to be crappy to civilians and clog the Tornado aisle at the Shoppette for people still working the mission. There's plenty of good things to enjoy about it, just let the benefits flow over you.

I'm subscribing to the "teach a man to fish" rather than "give a man a fish" method here. Tossing those extra parts on already without a tuning plan set was your choice, so try not flinging mud around while you reach out for help after the fact.
