We'd like to head out west (way west) within the next few months.

What is the best hooking track in that part of the country? And are there any events at that track that might be good for us to consider attending?

In SoCal here are the tracks:

1) Famoso Raceway @ 635 ft elevation in Bakersfield is closer to the midway of the CA state.
2) LA County Raceway @ 2780 ft elevation in Palmdale.
3) California Speedway @ 1280ft elevation in Fontana.

Outside of the State
4)Las Vegas Motor Speedway @ 23xx ft elevation in Las Vegas (of course).

In terms of quality of traction, it would go with LVMS, Famoso, and LACR. California Speedway is decent in terms of traction.

They are several time NHRA track of the year, and numerous time Div. 6 track of the year. www.woodburndragstrip.com We (PDXCGP) wil be hosting an all GM FWD race on Saturday July 30th in conjunction with the All GM event. Friday the 29th will be Bonneville Day there hosted by the West Coast Bonneville Club. If you or anyone else needs details, please feel free to send us an email.

If you guys come out to Sacramento, I will buy two cases of wine and three kegs of beer and have them delivered whereever you want. It is the least I could do.

Yeah, Woodburn would be a good choice! But chances are if you guys come out to anywhere on the west coast, I'd be there. :) Keep us posted!
