Depending on your near term plans, there may be one more option for you. If you're thinking about possibly getting a PCM tuner in the future, The HP Tuners programmer comes with its own scan tool for free. It can display up to 24 parameters and the sampling rate is 0.1 seconds. I've been using it recently and I think the extra sample points are great. Way better than my old tool.

Sounds like a great tool but I don't think that they have one available for the '04s yet.

What about the LS1M?

I have had one for about 4 months and it has been well worth the money I spent ($200) at the time. Its probably back to the normal 250 or whatever but its a good alternative to those who dont want to spend the cash for an autotap or who dont have a laptop.

I know its still not cheap, but if every penny counts, I am very happy with it.
I dont have the website, but there was a big thread in general or drivetrain about a group buy over on ClubGP.

I got a chance to see the hp tuners scanner in action and while I thought the autotap was decent, the hp tuners scanner is hands down a better scanner. Higher resolution (10 frames per second with quite a few parameters) and very easy to use.

Is it worth the 200 dollar premium over the autotap? When you factor in the fact that you get to tweak your PCM as much as you want I'd say yes.

I'm still looking for a good fast scanner that will work with a pocket pc but I think there is one in development out there that will fit the bill.

Does the HP Tuner scan tool work with all OBII cars or just the Make Model and Year that you bought it for?

I have auctually orgainized a group buy for the Alex Peper scanner at RegalGS.org if you are interested. Here is the link: http://www.regalgs.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15330

Alex pepers website is here: http://www.obd-2.com/#products

The scanner interface is not pretty, but it will get the job done. Monitors KR and all of the importaint Parameters. With the group discount the GM model is only $85. PM me if you are interested.

Pocket PC Diagnostic Tool

I have been working on a Pocket PC based diagnostic tool for quite some time. While it is still in beta testing, I hope to have it ready for download soon.

I use the alex pepper scantool. Pretty easy to use and I got the tricom model so I can scan any make over 95'. If I remember correctly it was around $100 with the group buy, but you will need a laptop to use it. As long as you dont scan all the parameters at once it is fairly fast. Scanning 6-8 parameters at a time seems to work best.

I have updated the software, and for those individuals with a pocket pc / windows mobile device and the tricom interface (interface used on the obd-2.com and ls1m.com scan tools), feel free to download the free public beta version.
