You can get the power from anywhere that has power with the key on. You won't want it to be hot at all times. I believe the compass is internal so that should work with just power and ground. I assume that the outdoor temp sensor is what's shown with it in the second picture. so you'll need to find a good place for that and wire it up as well. A good go to for low draw key-on power is the radio circuit.

I have to say the last picture gives me the heeby jeebies. The fancy mirror in my grandpa's Olds fell off, and the windshield button wasn't the reason. The pot metal blob that holds the mirror to the spring steel button clip broke off and JB weld was not strong enough to keep it in place. I had to get the thing stupid hot and fill it full of solder. I still don't think it was a permanent fix, but I was really just trying to flip the car.

My point is to be careful installing these and pulling one from the yard. If that spring clip breaks off, it's pretty much done.
