Am losing a pint of coolant per week in my 2008 Grand Prix, 3800 engine with 219k on the clock. All hoses replaced, no leaking seen from radiator. I have observed some whitish smoke coming from the exhaust, when cold till it warms up. No coolant in oil. Head gasket (s) beginning to fail, or intake gaskets??

Upper and lower intake gaskets require a once-over on these engines. You'll notice a post here about once a week on this.

HG's are pretty solid on these iron block/iron head engines, and only have issues from severe overheating or extreme boost on big builds.

Temp sensor can't read coolant temp if there's no coolant to sense... Therefore, it's only going to see the air pocket left behind.

A compression check and coolant pressure test will help you narrow things down before touching anything further.
