Hey guys n girls. First post here. I'm from Australia. I have a Holden VT series 1 wagon with a L67 from c vx Calais fitted. I have had the engine in for around 2 months. I have changed all pulleys apart from harmonic balancer, including a new idle tensioner .I have changed the belt 4 times, using different branded belts in the hope that it may fix the problem. . I have tried using electrical lube/dry soap/belt dressing/armour all etc etc. Nothing seems to work. I have changed the snout bearings and also the coupler for the blower. The belt squeal is doing my head in. I have an aftermarket 10psi pulley fitted.the squeaking was happening before I upgraded the pulley and it's doing exactly the same with the new 10psi fitted. I'm using a 6pk1735 serpentine belt to allow for the smaller pulley. Any ideas would be great. Is it the harmonic balancer that I need to replace to fix the problem? I can't think of anything else it could be. None of the pulleys have excessive movement or wear as they are all new. Could it be that I need a shorter belt? I seem to be making 8-9psi consistently according to my boost gauge. It squeals on idle and gets conciderably louder as I accelerate. Under boost is painful as is drowns out the whine of the blower. Please help!!! Haha

My first question is.....with the blower belt OFF the pulley, does the TENSIONEER pulley move more than when the belt is on the pulley? If not, you need a shorter belt. Also, maybe try cleaning off all the pulleys with something like brake cleaner. That will cut thru any stuff on the pulleys and allow good contact to the clean pulleys. Also make sure the belt is also CLEAN.

My first thoughts...... Jake

PS, look on ZZP web site...... they will show belt sizes for different blower pulley sizes.......... Good luck....

Generally speaking, there's not a lot of issues with the harmonic balancer. BUT, make sure there's no oil leaks or coolant leaks getting on the belts/pulleys... In a pinch, you could use a wire brush to clean any reside that may be on the pulleys. Do that with a wire brush and some sort of cleaning chemical that will evaporate and not leave anything behind on the pulleys....all the pulleys..... Jake...... I forgot to ask, does the blower spin by hand with the belts off? It should spin pretty easy but check any other pulleys that might be part of the problem............ Get back with what you find.......

Yeah, the ZZP website should give you some information or at least guide you in the right direction. I've ordered several products from them. They are great!

Thanks for your reply mate. I appreciate it. Yes it does, so that would suggest I need a shorter belt! Could it be this easy?? I sincerely hope so. I'll let you know. Thanks heaps

Hi mate. Thanks very much for your post. Good ideas! So the blower smoothly spins but with a decent amount of force. I wouldn't say it spins freely, but theyr doesn't seem to be any grinding or noise.
