I believe the S10 job's I've seen have modified the crossmember and rack location to accomodate. Mine's still sitting outside while snowmobiles dominate the shop floor.

Feel free to post pics of the mount-up with the F-body block mounts, and I'd like to see how fancy I'll have to get on mine as well. I heard it may be a good thing we're starting with the I-4 setup, as it may line up decent with the 3800? I'll be running a 4L60e, so stock location is something I'm going to attempt as well.

I am interested in seeing oil pan clearance here as well.

Wiring, building mounts, and all that jazz arent a big deal, but I want to see what we may have to do to the crossmember before we get into this one.

Thread jack/wanting to get some info from the experts.....

My boss is wanting to do a GN drivetrain in a older Blazer.

He's able to pick up an 86 or 87 drivetrain out of a GN for $3500 (for the whole car, but the rest of the car is screwed up but the drivetrain is good)

I also threw out the idea of a Series 2 motor and tranny out of something else....

What do you guys think? What's the best suggestion? His goals are 12's with the blazer, in street trim, and have it be drivable.

Links to places to have the headers fabbed, wiring done, ect would be great. He's in the research phase so any information is helpful.

As always we're open to suggestions!

He's actually got the money to do it right, this isn't a "what if" post. This can/will actually happen!

Again, sorry to jack the thread, but it looks like the people I'd want to ask this question of are already in here. I'll probably make another post just in case there are some experts out there who didn't post in here.

Thanks fellas!

Not too far off topic here. Either drivetrain would be cool/unique enough for that swap.

As far as Series 2 advantages, it'd mostly be parts availability, mpg gains, and so forth. The GN drivetrain would make power about as easily as a turbo S2, so that's just a matter of what he'd want to do for modding. Other than that, the engine would dictate the tranny to use (theoretically, you can adapt anything, of course, but TH350/700R4 for the GN or 4L60e for a S2 would be optimal for ease of install).

In the end, it'll be up to what he wants to run, based on parts/knowledge available for each drivetrain, and what he'll want to do with it don the road.

Im in the process of doing a swap in my 91. if you havent done it already. you need to cut your k member and section some of your oil pan out. also something to consider. the f body alt is mounted on the lower pass side. this wont work with the s-10 k member/ motor mounts. so you will need to find where you want to mount that. I had to make a set of motor mounts and customize the stock trans mount.
