Thumbs up U.F.C. - Couture vs. Lesnar

Dave Nutini, Ed Morad and I are going to watch this fight next weekend.

Who's into the U.F.C. and has a prediction about this one?

What an awesome fight this should be!

My money is on Couture. We older guys have to stick together you see.

I'll be a little nervous for the first round, or at least until Brock gets a taste of Couture's striking ability. I just don't think anyone has ever hit Lesnar as hard as Randy's going to hit him. After Randy's first solid connection, I think it will just be a matter of time until he takes out the young gun.

The longer this fight goes, the more the pendulum swings toward Couture's knowledge and experience winning out in my opinion. If it gets past the first round, I'd say it's 60% Couture. If it gets past the second round, it's probably closer to 80%.

Old guys for the win!

After seeing the documentary LATE last evening, I feel the young gun is going to hurt Randy bad.

I'm hoping for Randy - but I feel the cards are stacked against him...

i agree unfortunatly!! I am a huge couture fan, but lesnar is a bad mofo. waite until you see what kind of punishment lesnar can dish out. ken shamrock found out the hard way about two years ago what happens in the ufc when you put experience against youth.(the only way for couture to win is if he brings a baseball bat)
i hope that some stroke of luck, randy catches him napping. then it would be lights out, but randys last fights, he looks very tired.

This fight looks a lot like Lesnar vs. Mir. Lesnar was whipping his ass until he got stupid and got caught by submission. Lesnar has learned from those mistakes and wins in the 1st round.

This is Bill and not Greg

I will give my pick when I have more time (at work on lunch), There are some holes in Scotts logic but you will just have to see who I pick and why.

Scott alls I have to say is you picked matt hughes over GSP awhile back Old guy went down to my pick of GSP

I will get back with my MS CLEO prediction so you might want to bet on it when you are with ED in VEGAS.

Bill

Older guys know how to fight smart. Martial art fighting isn't about size and strength. Intelligence is a great edge to have over brute force. My bet is Randy will mop up the ring with him. Randy will do to him what he did to Tim Silvia.
Oh yea gtp400hp, the baseball bat comment - nice touch, we'll see!

I agree w/ scott. in the first round, the edge goes to Brock I think. if he makes it out of the first round, odds get better for Randy. Its hard to bet against Randy as everyone said, but I was there when Brock fought Mir and I actually thought he could have actually killed Mir if it didnt get broke up (back to their feet) due to an accidental back of head blow by Brock. His efficient hammer punch technique was crazy. find that fight online, it was a crazy few minutes, Mir seized the only opportunity he had and won.

I can see it going either way really. easy to see lesnar pummelling him til it gets stopped by a ref scared for Randys life lol. Easy to see Randy get a submission at some point also. Hard to picture Randy knocking out Brock, but I guess it could happen too since we havent see Brock take a big punch yet. Not sure what to say other than cant wait til Saturday!

I wont bet on the fight unless there are huge odds one way or the other. If so, I will take the odds since I have no clue and can see it going either way. If the odds are close, wont bother betting/guessing.

FWIW, I met brock at VIP check out @ Mandalay Bay after the fight and spoke to him and his wife for a minute (still pissed about the loss) and the guy is as big as he seems, if not bigger. I am 6'2ish and 240 and I felt as if I was tiny next to him, not even close to the same size. he is so wide and think, its crazy.

Rooting for Randy not only for the obvious reasons, but also because of the whole contract dispute thing. Man would Randy beating Brock be a nice nut punch to Dana White for that whole mess. Dana is probably making Randy fight brock to get back at Randy, I hope it backfires lol

Bill, get to work, its 2:20, lunch is long over!!!

I thought Randy looked great in the first round, and I really felt like he was well on his way to winning this fight in a later round. But he got caught with a shot that would have dropped anyone.

After seeing the first round, do you think Couture could make some game plan adjustments and beat Lesnar in a rematch?
