4L60E Trans for V6 and V8

I think the 4L60E trans came in V6 Firebirds and V6 Camaros (although I could be wrong here).

If the above is true, that the 4L60E came in the V6 F-Bodies, are there major differences between the 4L60E trans that came with the V6 motors, and the 4L60E trans that are use with the V8 engines (assuming the 4L60E came with the V8's, which I think they do/did).

If the above is true, are the available performance parts for the 4L60E compatible with both the V6 and V8 versions of the 4L60E?

Regards.

The bell housings are different sizes from v6 to v8..... but..... if you want to upgrade the internals on your v6 tranny, the v8 tranny performance parts will work fine.

The 4L60E is an updated, electronic version of the 700R4. Dunno if that helps you tho.

I can tell you we have wrecking yards full of these transmissions down here in Australia, both the 4l60E and the T700R in V6 bolt pattern.

12secondv6 is right, all the V8 gear fits internally and they'll handle a fair amount of grunt. My V6 makes 350hp at the wheels with a T700R and was great out on the road both long distance and in traffic.

I just wish I could find a V-8 to V-6 Adapter plate for the T-5 Transmissions. Anyone know of one? -Tim

rossler did my tranny

you can use a V8 4l60E in a v6, change the bell housing and input shaft..... but you wont really gain much from that

just have the 4L60E biult i know rossler does great work and he ships world wide

Not only that Rossler makes a trans brake for the 4L60E also
