you have the 4l60e. its an ok trans. you will need to have it rebuilt if you plan to push that kind of power.
stock T/As dont make 350 and they destroy them all the time. for every 3800 build RWD or FWD when you go turbo the rule of thumb is start saving for a tranny. if this is a car you need as a DD i would suggest holding off till you have the money for the trans. im not saying it will snap within the first mile, but i dont see you getting 5-6 months out of it even at low boost levels(7-10psi). everyone says they will take it easy on it for a while and no one ever does. ..just the truth

also think about a rear end when getting to that power level with sticky tires.
good luck, let us know what you end up doing

thanks for the info

well i knew id have to build the trans but i wasn sure if it was necassry to do it before my major mods take place and ur right 1/4 mile i would definatley break it cuz there is now way i could keep from mashing it cuz thats the whole point so do you have any suggestions for a good rear diff ratio. for a highway driver that will have the snap im lookin for.

If I were you, I would be more concerned with the proper high stall converter vs. lower gearing. If I recall correctly, sometimes turbo cars won't respond well to lower gearing. A high stall converter will put the turbo in a better power range from the get go and will make a huge difference in quarter mile times.

Whenever considering building up an engine think about this

The car is no good unless it can stop and handle. Brakes and suspension first
Power is no good unless you can put it to the ground. Transmission second
Everything else you've done set you up for a good time.. Add power to engine.
