Big change for 3800Tech

As a new forum, we are constantly taking in suggestions and striving to bring you the finest information about the 3800 motor as possible. A recent suggestion stated that the forum should be changed so non-members could still view the forum. This has been brought to our attention a few times and we feel that implementing this will better the community by making the vast amount of information on 3800Tech much easier to access. If you wish to post however, you must register to do so. As we continue to grow we encourage all members to make suggestions on how we can improve the forum. Thank you for your continued support.

That makes sense. Being that I joined right away, I was not aware that others couldn't read the forums without joining.... I know that always bugs me when I am searching for information and find a forum that does not allow me to read with out being a member. Good change.

This forum is great. It is hard to believe it is as new as it is.. Great work everyone.

The only concern I have is non members being able to see members full names, city, state, etc.

As they can on any message forumif you included that information in your profile. The only way to prevent that is no not fill that information in, unless required for registration, or for the administrator to modify the vBulltein templates to not include that info on the showthread page.

The latter is very easily accomplished with vBulletin but I see no reason folks would mind.

We understand your concern. The fact remains that if someone wants to get a persons information, there are many other places that this same information can be obtained besides a message forum. Even if non-members could not view the forum, who is to say that they could not sign up under a false name and get what info that they needed anyhow. There is nothing to stop that, until we are able to remove the account.

There have been many requests (and some accusations) about opening the forum up for those that do not want to become members for whatever reasons. That is what brought on this change. We care about the safety of everyone’s vehicle and do not want anything to happen to it. The information that is on this forum is minimal and each user agrees to those policies when they sign up.

We are not willing to let this forum become a free for all and lose it usefulness! I hope you can understand and appreciate 3800Tech.com’s standpoint on this matter.

Its a matter of degree. of corse its not especially difficult for a person with the proper skills and know-how do, but much harder than just looking over at 3800tech.

I dont know of any other message forum where your required to post your full name, etc. In public forums I do not include my full name and town.
