Auto Cross???
Well I bought the wife a new car (saturn sky redline) and the monte carlo is now mine to do with as I wish . So anywho we have no track here anymore and the only racing there is now is cone smashing. So I know these cars are fwd and friggin big but has anyone auto crossed? Can these cars handle it? Mine is a 04 SS dale Jr edition one. Any thoughts on this? Also I need some decent tires that will fit the Dale Jr rims. Anyone have thoughts on that also? thanks much

I know Mike from milzymotorsports has autocrossed his 96? monte. I would get the widest tires you can(I know there is a thread on here about that), but I don't know a lot about good tires as I only use bad ones for some reason.
Really, getting the anti-sway bars and some strut tower braces along with some adjustable coilovers(or adjustable shocks with lowering springs) should really help you in the corners. The car should be able to handle it, but I would doubt if it would be as nimble as some imports. It will be a good time for you either way from what I hear

You should try drifting while you're at it.

We had a Riviera owner on the rivperformance.com forum autocross his Riv before he sold it- and our cars are 300-400lbs heavier although we have a stronger and more rigid body. I was hoping to get on a local track this past Summer but too many projects kept me from doing so. Maybe next year...

Thats what I pretty much figured as for the sway bars and such. I will look at the threads for the widest tires. As for the drifting thing-there is no legal place to drift here in hawaii so thats out of the question. Also with these cars being FWD I would want to even try drifting. I will give it a whirl and see how it handles in the stock form when I take the Sky redline also.
I will post about it after I knock over a few of those lil cones lol.

I think the drifting was a joke....
You should get an LSD if you are serious about it. Sway bars and lowering that beast are a must.
