2000 Impala 9c1

Hey, Im new to this forum but been a member of "Naioa" for a few years now and just figured id stop by, was actually told by 04DetroitLS to stop in here to get a different view of things so i figured id do so..

Well since im new to the whole "3800" engine i was looking at possibly modding it over time..

Now what are some mods i should look into that are low budget and wont cost me alot but give me a decent to good return on performance, and mpg improvments..?

I was looking at possibly getting the Power Logs, but i honestly dont understand how i would benfit from them on a "NA" car, other then that i was looking at a SC but im gonna prob hold off on that .

Just trying to take it slow with the car and get a few mods here and there , so any and all ideas would be great.

maintance is the key, Most people are not getting the power they have stock due to lack up keep.
Start with new plugs-NGK tr-55s or autolite 605's
new oem wires
new fuel filter
new pcv
new o2 sensor
homemade air intake system that can be transfered over to the SC setup, or at least a new panel filter.
S&S headers work very well for NA cars and can work decent for a mild SC setup,if not a Downpipe would work well too
Delete your Ubend in your exhaust
inspect upper intake manifold for leaks, cracks and warping.
check you lower intake gasket.
HV3 inserts from zzp are nice.

Your suspension setup is quite good being a 9c1. You have most of the GMPP items and a better front sway then what is available from GMPP. Only thing i would add is a rear STB and new strut mounts if your has higher mileage.
Maybe wider tires as well. 245-50s are nice upgrade.

cross drilled and slotted rotors wtih upgraded pads will help with braking.

Upgrading to a floor shifter is nice, unless you like the stock shifter

Check out W-body store for alot of your needs

Most of what u stated , i have already know only thing i havn't is the 02Sensors, i just put all new struts all around , and im planning on getting new springs also i just didn't have the cash to do so since the struts came with the car. There KYB GR2's, and the ride quality is nice.

I was thinking of doing DP first off since i hear alot of good things about it.. Would i be better off going ZZP or WBodyStore? I Also installed PolyMounts and i was going to get new Dog Bones since the rear mounts seem to be alittle warn, but it might just be me?

I want to build a ColdAirIntake but wont my mpg drop a significant ammount? I built one for my Base model and it droped pretty far down to where i could notice it, but that might just be driving habits.

Now the HV3 isn't it like a Spacer for the intake? I will just keep a look out to see if anyone on here or NAIOA, is looking to get ride of theres at some point, another question is, can i purchase a Dp for a 3400 and place it on the 3800? When i called ZZp they told me the mounting points are different but it can work with alittle fabrication.

The car has 175K on it at the momment so for oil what should i run on it?
I was told never run synthetic with this many miles but , i would really like to run a good motor oil so that i can get some of that power back, i just did the upper/lower img cus of a crazy leak, and they put Penz in it, i dont really like that oil so i was going to switch to Mobil 1 or RP but RP only comes in Synthetic and that's where my questions are in that area.

I can't seem to remember any other questions or info but if i do i will post up the rest.

Thanks for all the help Thus far
