2005 park ave vs. 2001 bonnie SSEi

Hello. I've got a 2005 park ave ultra with the 3800 s/c and my brother has a 2001 bonnie ssei. We have lined them up a couple times and I get my doors blown off everytime. I realize my car should be heavier, but why does his run so much better than mine? Pcm settings? Both cars are bone stock for now. I'm also interested in what mods I can do that will gain power and not reduce drivability and mpg with 4 dollar gas. I'm sorry if most of this seems obvious to you guys but I'm used to carbed pontiacs and 4 LT1 cars. This front wheel drive V6 thing is completely new to me. Thanks for any help and knowledge.

the Park has a much more agressive TM setting, and is slightly heavier. also the shifts are softer, because of the luxury factor

first i would recommend a FWI (fenderwell intake) i gained a tenth in the 1/4 with no other mods.

Autolite 104 plugs gapped at .55 and a PCM. If your not still happy then a 3.5 MPS on the SC ( i wouldnt do a 3.4 unless i had exhaust mods )

all in all even with the mods listed in my Sig my car is capable of 13's at the track and 25 mpg on the highway. something that is different than your V8 days is that the SC has a bypass so that when your not on the gas it is not in boost, therefore almost acting like a NA engine

Thanks for the reply. I'll start with an intake and exhaust. As I said before, I'm new to the 3800. I've been reading on here about gen 1,2,3, etc. Also superchargers gen 2,3,4, etc. What do I have so I know what I'm starting with? Its a 2005 park ave ultra. Is there any advantages/disadvantages to the 05' models? What tans do I have? Thanks for the help.

Faster Park Avenue

Brian,

I have a 2001 Park Avenue and have already been down some of the paths that you may pursue. I wanted better acceleration from my Park Avenue without significantly altering its luxury composure.

Instead of me rehashing all of this go to I wanna go faster!. This thread is a discussion of how I might go even faster. It is an interesting conversation about my quest for power.

By the way. Measured wheel power is 235 HP at 7000' elevation. This translates to about 290 HP wheel power at sea level and something over 300 HP at the flywheel at sea level.

I can provide pictures of my mods if you are interested.

Larry
