Smile Couple 3800sc Series 1 Questions?

Hey Everybody,

Just joined up, and had a few questions. Please bear with me, as i am not that knowledgeable towards the 3800. I just bought a 1995 Bonneville with a 3800sc series 1. It is going into my Fiero, and using the automatic tranny from the Bonneville. I just had a couple quick questions, that i hope you guys could help with.

How much hp / tq does a stock 3800sc series 1 make?

I am looking to add a smaller pulley, nothing radical, just would like a decent increase in power. What size would you recommend? And where to purchase?

Anything negative / positive about the 3800sc series 1 rather than 2?

And is 180k too high mileage? I've heard they are quite strong, and go forever. But with a smaller pulley, would it shorten the life drastically of the engine?

Thanks everyone, hopefully this is in the right section

Kyle

225 hp and 280TQ for the 94-95 motors

you can pulley down to the stock pulley on the 92-93 motors for an upgrade...before you do this check the manifolds for cracks

the S1 revs lower makes less power, but makes more Tq lower in the RPM band....

Thumbs up

Sweet, Thank you

Some more questions...

How much boost does a stock series 1 make?

And are the 1.9 rockers that are used with the series 2, are they compatible with the series 1? if not, what are?

The S1 is very different than the S2 and there is much less aftermarket, and available parts for the S1.

Still formidable, but if you put the two side by side in stock form they will seem roughly equal until highway speeds. Then the S2 will walk.
