Gah! Impossible oil leak!

I have a '95 Regal with a pretty nasty oil leak. It leaks about a quart a week. Normally, I wouldn't be so anal about it, but when it drips, it gets all over the underside of the car and on the exhaust, so it constantly smells like burnt oil. It drips off the oil pan. My initial thought was the intake gaskets, cause I saw it leaking from out/around the timing cover. It stopped that leak, but that wasn't the source of the leak. Next I thought oil pan, (what a pain) I changed that and no difference. Then I thought the oil filter adapter gasket, and STILL no change. Its not the valve cover gaskets, its completely dry up there. It drips off the back corner of the oil pan, just behind the harmonic balancer. So what else is left? Timing chain cover? This leak is driving me nuts!!! (and quickly emptying my wallet!)

I've seen them leak at the passage behind the timing cover - yea, it's a pain in the neck to replace but they can leak BIG time like you said. I usually clean the area really good with brake cleaner and then get under it while it's running to see where the oil comes out at first. Look really close around the timing cover near and behind the oil filter adapter. I'd bet it's the cover gasket.

Could also be the timing cover seal, you'd have to remove the balancer to change it.

Why not just use the dye in the engine oil to trace with the black light and see exactly where the leak is coming from so you don't keep changing every gasket hoping to find the problem. Clean the engine very well to locate the leak. Sounds like you've almost changed all of then regardless.
