Thought I read somewhere that GM had made a L36 that made just a hair under 300 hp. Anyone have any more info on this?

The only 3800 GM made with a claimed 300hp I ever heard about was a intercooled GP from the 90s.

You referring to the concept GPX300? That was supercharged and it was the car that got me into GTP's. I still dream of fender flares like that.

Actually, Chevy made a Monte Carlo with 297hp from an L36.
It was a concept car, IIRC, tricked out as a Dale Earnhardt car.
The engine was massively altered, though. They had to increase compression to 12:1 to get those numbers.
