reflash?

I just got a CAI and exhaust put on my car. I was told to disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes so the computer will learn the new airflow perimeters. Is this correct?

yes it takes 15 to 20 mins for the pcm to forget(reset) the ltft's (long term fuel trims). is it needed? i highly doubt it but you can do it if you like. lets say you did then the car would learn new ltfts based on the current modds... which i think it would do without having to do reset the pcm. maybe some others can comment

It isn't needed, the PCM learns really at an astounding rate when you drive.

Drive NORMALLY for say 20 min and vary the driving, normal, not punching it or getting on it hard, just drive normal, lug it, higher rpm in manual gears, etc will cover all bases pretty well.

When you punch it learning is disabled.

So no need, clearing PCM is rarely, if ever, needed.

agreed, for the most part. with the mods you have done the computer will need no help in adjusting it's self. now if you move into bigger mods, like: ported throttle body, heads, cam, injectors. not only will you need to do a fuel trim relearn, but alot of tunning with the pcm will be involved.

It resets the fuel trims in your car. These guys know what they are talking about so don't reset them because you really don't need to. However disconnecting the batter for about 20 min. will reset them. If you do choose to take this route you have to drive around city, highway, idle so the car can relearn all the trims again and during this whole process you can't floor it. let the pcm do its job and leave the trims alone for now. after more mods maybe you'll want to, but i would get an aeroforce scan gauge so you can see where your fuel trims are to see if you even need to reset them.
