safest way to get 10:1 compression?
what would be the best way to get my compression up to 10:1?
i plan to use the .052 4 layer mls gaskets. How much would i have to mill the heads to bump my compression up to 10:1? Some thing around .03? would that be safe to do?

I'd go with .045" gaskets and a .020 mill. That should put you pretty much right at 10:1. You want to mill the heads as little as possible because it weakens them, although being N/A you will likely not have any issues with a lot of mill.

do the .045 gaskets come in 4 layer? or just the 3? would i be ok running the 3 layer gaskets because i am NA? Also what length push rods would i need to use? would stock length still be ok?
and where the hell is the "quick reply" button lol

haha the quick reply is in the bottom right corner of each post.
The .045s only come in the 3 layer. You will not have any problems with them being N/A. There are plenty of supercharged guys that run the .045 gaskets without issues as well, they can handle plenty of cylinder pressure.
With that much taken off, you will probably need to get 7.00" pushrods. Thats a total of .037" taken off with a .020" mill and .045" gaskets combined, and usually you can't do much more than ~.025-.030" without running shorter pushrods as the lifters don't allow that much play. For what its worth, I have a total of .020" mill (.010 mill and .052" gaskets) and I can run stock length pushrods just fine, my friend however has the same setup with .052" gaskets and .030" mill (total of .040") and has to run shorter pushrods.

thanks a lot, i love this site so much.
So to double check, with .045 gaskets, .02 mill on heads, and 7.00 push rods i should get what im looking for?
and does anyone sell 7.00 oil restricted pushrods? I was told i should go with the oil restricted rods because of my 1.9 roller rockers

Yes, the .045" gaskets, .02" mill on the heads, and 7.00" pushrods should put you where you want to be.
As far as I know, the oil restricted pushrods are not available in the 7.00" size. (they aren't listed on any of the vendors sites from what I can tell) You may want to email the vendors ( intense, zzp) to see if they can get these for you. I know the regular pushrods are available in the correct size if you cant get the oil restricted.

No they are not needed. They are supposed to help reduce valve float in the upper rpms, but if you aren't having an issue with it now, then I'm sure stock (style) pushrods would be just fine, especially with 105lb springs.
I don't have roller rockers, but I run stock pushrods and spin to 7250rpms with no problems.

sweet thanks.
on second thought, what is a good compression to go with on my car? It is a daily driver and i live in arizona, so it does get rather hot haha.
would it be safe to do 10.5:1? what do most people go with?
