EVAP switch identity
Hi all, Happy bird-day!
Here's my dillema. I found my emission code (P0440) culprit, and the sticker under the hood identifies it as an "EVAP switch" which I have found and is bad.
However, when I do a parts search for this bad part "EVAP switch" as the sticker so names it as per GM, I cannot find this part. Is this a dealer only part, or does it go by another name? Any help?

The only description my FSM has for the P0440 DTC is “EVAP System” I would check all vacuum lines are in good condition and not dry rotted or crimped; All electrical connections are connected.
I can't remember completely but I think I got that same code after I installed my Intense FWI. Due to the fact I didn't extend one of the vac. lines near the canister, it unhooked it's self.

I'm almost positive it's the culprit, I changed lines, hoses, gas cap, and it's the only valve that never changes state either by resistance, or voltage, and seems to be stuck in the open position.... but when I search for the replacement part, nothing identical will come up

Maybe post in the wanted section or e-mail Ed Morad for the part if it is the only variable you haven't changed.

It's the canister purge solenoid on supercharged cars it's behind and to the left of the supercharger...it's on top and has 2 vacuum lines and a connector going to it. Mine slides on a metal holder
it looks like this: http://www.autozone.com/N,16000326//...eResultSet.htm

check the charcoal canister also it's on the drivers side rear by where your stock muffler used to be. Mine had some grains of sand in it.

That vacuum diagram looks the same as my 96 Regal.
That is the RVAP Vacuum Switch and it should test normally closed (0 ohms) no vacuum.
Switch reads open when vacuum is applied.
The # stamped on my switch is 24506192 and shows as a good part # at GM Parts Direct.
The part must be dealer only AC Delco and Rock Auto do not list it?
I do not know if your switch will be the same?

As mentioned..pull your switch or have a dealer look it up to confirm the part number. Dealer, GMpartsdirect.com, Ed Morad, or a JY would be the places you could find another. IIRC parts stores don't stock them due to the low need for replacements.
