excessive crankcase vaccum

I just swapped in an l26 into an 00 monte ss..i used an adapter plate etc...my question is why is there so much vaccum in the crankcase like if i open the oil fill it has a strong rush of air that goes in. is something blocked off that i need or , do i need to install a breather on the valve cover?

There shouldnt be that much vacuum. This is typically due to an intake gasket vacuum leak or something wrong in the PCV system.

Check your PCV valve and make sure it has both o-rings. One goes on the PCV valve itself, and the other on the cap that holds the PCV in.

I still have alot to learn about the 3800's. However, it does sound like a intake gasket leak to me as well.

well i believe it has to do with the adapter plate blocking off a pcv passage where the tb is...a 10k motor shouldnt have a leak like that as far as i knoiw
