Please Help!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone its been a while since i been on here and have done some major work to my 2000 Monte Carlo SS, I have installed a intense S1x blower cam, comp cam 105# valve springs, and comp cam roller lifters. I have a SLP powerflow cat back, auto lite 103's 180* tstat and taylor 8mm wires. Heres my problem I just installed the cam and everything got a reprogrammed pcm from instense options on that are PCM standard,Stock idle speed, timing table adjusted 3* at WOT, disable misfire DTC,disable rear o2 and cooling fan set at 180*. My problem is that the car seems to have absolutly no power it acts like the tranny is slipping but its not it just hesitates a ton and has loss a ton of power it seems anyway. I got the crankshaft variation relearn today and the engine doesnt seem to be stumbling over itself before i got that done ANY IDEAS?

With the power loss and tranny-slipping feeling, it could be the catalytic converter. Do you have a way to scan the car?

I had it scaned when I did the crank sensro relearn at the dealership and that was the onyl code. I have a new DP and U bend deltete waiting to be installed. Do you think that a cat with 100k on it could be restrictive enouhg to make it feel doggy? thanx for reply...

Its probably the cat convertor.
Had the same problem on my gp. Car would go way up in rpm, yet not shift gears. It wont show up on a scanner, you just have to check the cat yourself.

Bryan I emailed you about this earlier yesterday.
Anytime you do a cam in an N/A car you should also do a higher stall torque converter. The power band is shifted upwards with the cam so your low end feels like you have lost some oomph. A higher stall converter will flash quicker to the cams powerband and make the car feel completely different.

Yes, If your looking for the low end power right off the line, the cam would have changed that considerably. The power curve is in a higher rpm range and the torque converter is the fix. If you suspect the cat is constricted its easy enough to unbolt at the manifold and see if it makes a difference or go ahead and replace it.

Ok i understand all that, here is what I dont get and please bare with me as i am trying to grasp all this, if the power band changed how come then as i get up into the power band of the cam say around 4500 or so the car still doesnt go anywhere? I was coming up a small incline home from work yesturday and got so mad i barried the throttle goin about 70mph got to the top of the hill and i was doin 55mph at about 5000 rpms? I just dont understand how a torque converter would change anything, and again please bare with me
