    Here's a little trick to really see if in fact the engine is "locked-up" or not. For most intensive purposes this works very well. Find the Crankshaft Pulley or Harmonic Balancer. Locate the Nut that secures the Crank Pulley or Balancer on After you have figured out the size of socket needed get a ratchet or breaker bar (something you can get some torque on) and what your going to try to do is turn over the engine by hand. NOTE: Be sure to place the vehicle in neutral as you just want to turn over the engine and not the drive-train. If the engine turns over by hand then the engine is not locked-up.
