egine oil opinion questions

in your opinions...should i spend the money to put royal purple in my car or just stick with the budget and keep putting in vavoline premium?

i just want to hear the opinions of those who have been running this motor for longer than me...

the car is a 2000 grand prix gtp with a motor out of a 99 riviera with 32k on it and no mods

thanks

I went from RP to Mobil 1 and am happy with it. The engine seems to be quieter with Mobil1.

My 94 Fleetwood has 250K miles and most of that was plain jane dino oil till I got it, then I used 15W40 Rotella T or Delvac 1300 diesel oil and then later 5W40 Rotella T. Doesn't burn a drop, doesn't leak much, just wets the bottom the drivetrain.

I like the high levels of ZDDP that Rotella/Delvac/Delo has....Or just add a pint of so of GM EOS. It is back on the market.

Mobil1 claims 10,000 mile service intervals. Penzoil still claims 3,000 on dino oil. Penzoil is $3.19 per quart at pepboys (or was when I worked there a while ago), Mobil1 was $6.49. Double the cost, but over 3 times the life... Also more protection, and synthetic oils have proven to be better in every aspect, even add some HP. Pep Boys used to run an ad, 5 quarts of Mobil1 and a Mobil1 filter for $24.99 (i hate advertising for them, but thats a deal). The filter alone is $10.99. I'd buy mobil1 and change it at 6,000 miles and call it a win. Spend the same money, change oil less often, and protect against wear better. I have mobil clean5000 highmileage in my L67 right now with a delco filter, when I get the swap all squared away I will run a flush and switch to Mobil1 Highmileage 10w30 and run Mobil1 filters.
