Hello. I have a 2004 Impala LS with the L36 3800 engine. How do I identify what the transmission is on my car? Thanks.

Find your RPO code sheet, should be in the trunk on the lid, but could be on the drivers door jam. Look for MN7 or M13. MN7 is the 4T65E heavy duty and the M13 is the 4T60E.

Holy old ass threads batman!

Yeah,I ain't scairt to bump a 6 year old thread.
Might as well keep similar info in the same place I figure for easy searching.

I've got a trans from a 99 Regal GS,was behind an L67.
I need to identify it for sure so I can buy parts/rebuild stuff and for some rewiring.
I do not have the car or the RPO,only the numbers from the trans.
I was positive it was a 4T65E-HD,but when I looked up some parts on the AZ lookup it asked me if it had a 4T60 or 4T65 so wanna ask to be for sure.

Expand as much as you like so people searching later might find what's needed,I love info.

On top of the casting I have a large 917

Backside casting numbers are as follows:

GM-B
24209508
917

The side cover has these numbers:

24211956
NMP 14

Engraved into machined surface on top of extension housing:

069 2 402
22
0 9 1 303

Anybody have any information maybe?
I hate to go by chevy,I know the techs aren't gonna know simply cause I don't know that stuff for the ford trans I mess with.
I can call Morad i'm sure and he'll probrably know, but hate to disturb someones business for some free advice.

Need to order parts tomorrow if I can,so any info I can get is great.
Still have alot of stuff to look up on it,but need to know for sure what I have first.

Thanks much guys.
