99 Camaro 3800 Dyno Tune in progress

Brett made the trip from Indiana to Ohio today to get his car tuned. We found out that a couple things need addressed. The stock intank fuel pump could not deliver the fuel we needed and the blower belt was slipping causing us to lose boost at 5000 rpms.

Parts list:

Diamond Racing 8.5:1 Pistons
Abbott Racing Stage 3 Heads
Comp Cams 210/220 @.050" 112 Lobe Sepration
Powerdyne Supercharger with 2.93" Blower Pulley
SLP Loud Mouth Catback
RK Sport Headers
42 Pound Injectors.

Shift Schedule modified for dyno pulls. TCC left unlocked

The stock intake pump could only deliver a safe a/f to 4000 rpms. At that point, pressure started to fall and the cars a/f drifted lean. A 255 intank pump will be going before the next dyno session.

Next problem is the belt. This supercharger kit uses the flat side of the belt to drive the supercharger. We had the belt as tight as we could get the tensioner which gave us 8 pounds of boost at 5000 rpm's Doing the math, this car should make 10 pounds at 6000 rpms.

With a good blower belt setup and a fuel pump. I think 300+ rwhp is going to be easy to get. I have not even played with timing yet.

Very nice car Brett. I am anxious to see what it does with a fuel pump and good blower belt setup.

Nice numbers. Thats similar to a S1X cam isn't it? Looking good... lets see that thing break the 300HP barrier. Get those issues fixed and lets see it unleash all that power.
Go Brian Go!

I would love to send pictures, but since the tune, the bearings blew on my supercharger and I'm saving up to get it fixed. The old Camaro is running NA right now. Still loud, but a lot slower

The blower cams I believe you are refering to have a much larger exhuast valve duration. This allows for a turbo to spool up quicker due to the need of exhaust pressue to build up the turbo boost. Also a blower cam has a slight overlap in the valve timing which allows some of the inlet pressue to escape and add to the exhaust pressure. Once again this allows for a faster and strong push through the exhaust side of a turbo charger. This is why it is useful to have a blower cam on a turbo car. On a supercharged car however there is no need for greater exhaust pressure because the boost is created by the belt and not the exhaust. The key in having a good cam for a supercharged car is loner duration in valve opening and not having overlap between the exhaust and inlet valves. This allows the air to be trapped in the cylinder and used more efficeintly for a good burn. The research i've done shows that a normal cam is better for that, but mine has a bit of a custom grind to it from abbott racing to better suit the supercharger. Also with the supercharger and the bigger valves from the stage 3 port job on my heads it doesn't take a highly aggressive cam to make some good power. I'll be back over to dyno tune once I get this supercharger rebuilt and hopefully I'll break 315 rwhp or more!!!!!
