Like the title says, my Jp Performance Double Chain set failed 2 days ago. I pulled the motor out and got the heads pulled yesterday. The chain broke right in half. I bent 3 valves and knicked 3 pistons From the looks of my front cover the chain was streched really bad because there are deep groves in the side of it. That's right I said the side of the cover not the front by the oil pump cover. When I installed this chain I put 2 front cover gaskets on for the oil pump cover clearance issue but I did not install a damper because I was told not to from different vender. This chain has around 15 to 20,000 miles on it. There have been many problems with the JP chains failing acording to a post on Club GP. I'll post some pics of the chsin and front cover a later after I fix my camera. If your running one of these chains it wouldn't be a ba idea to pull the front cover and check thing out. I'm personally going back to a new stock chain and damper for the rest of the year. I'll be doing a Gen V swap when the summer is done and probably a Triple Edge tranny. I'll just pull the cover when doing the swap and see how the stock shain and damper held up with my XP and 105 springs.
The only nice thing was that it broke about 50 yards from my driveway so I just pushed the car home. Also I was only going 25 mph so the RPM's were not high so the damage could have been a lot worse.

Talk to JP, see what they will do about it, they are insured for damage like that.
Had anything been done that might have comprimised the chain? Like spinning it to 15000 rpm or something?
No chance anything else didn't break to make it break?

No reving to 15000 rmp's lol, my shift points are set around 6200 rpm. At the time of failer I was very low rpm's. I was going 20-25 mph and hamered down and she just shut off. There have been a number of the JP chains fail from what I've heard on Club GP. There is a write up on this Topic on Club GP in the L67/L32 section. Zoom from ZZP has been in contact with JP Performance about this issue but they are saying it's install error which is Bull ****!! I'm positive it was the chain that failed. Before I pulled the front cover off I took both valve covers off and turned the crank. As soon as I turned it I new it was F*!*!!. It turned way to easy and nothing on the heads moved at all. It could have been worse but I'm still pissed about the whole ordeal. I should have just bougth a new stock chain & damper the 1st time. Live and learn.
