Well as some of you know I removed my EGR valve last week (for strictly off-road purposes of course), and all is well. I simply had the codes removed via Intense-Racing and haven't looked back. It's kinda funny though as I posted a thread on this about a week ago and it seems to have stirred the pot quite a bit. I noticed 1HOT97 disabled his and reduced his part-throttle knock. Now that I have really done all of the brain-storming on this issue it makes perfect sense to do this. All there is to think about is some simple physics (well sort of simple) :thinking about the thermal properties of your combustion chamber as well as the burn characteristics of the A/F mixture, volumetric efficiency and one can see the logic. What I can't see the logic in however is that I've seen some vendor's condoning blocking off the exhaust port so the EGR simply draws in fresh air, at first it sounds logical drawing in clean air so no build-up occurs over time. Unfortunately though it's un-metered air. This is probably why they say to expect to experience a 1 mpg loss. Not only that but the PCM would theoretically be playing catch up everytime the EGR port opened, that's no good. At least it does'nt sound good to me. All that's needed now is for payday to come around so I can purchase a Aeroforce Scan Guage, this way I can do my CASE LEARN as well as monitor my knock more efficiently after the delete's been done. Tired of carrying around that Scan-tool which by the way does not give me a KR value. Oddly enough I own a older Gen of the same brand Scan-tool that does. Weird. Anyway my new motto is: No CAT, No EGR, No problem!:icon_lol:

Well as some of you may know I recently intalled a set of Pacesetter Ceramic-coated headers. I purchased the ZZP Pro Kit and after reading some info on the hardware's shortcomings (Pacesetter) I decided to take it a step further. Originally I had installed the paper manifold gaskets (along with a thin coat of Ultra-Copper on both sides of the gaskets) that Pacesetter supplied with the hardware with larger flanged grade 8 bolts for the manifolds. I had foreseen the Y-pipe problem and decided to go with the ZZP Pro kit for a tighter fit. Also I had read before the install to purchase a set of steel band-clamps from Napa instead of going with the cheapies Pacesetter supplied. Funny thing I bought my reducer clamps from ZZP ( steel band-clamps) and after purchasing the others form Napa realized they were the same brand (Easy Seal). After reading on the forum I noticed a few compalints ( and I think 1HOT97) even chimed in about the short life of the paper manifold gaskets. This is when I talked to Todd at Intense and he advised going with the GM metal gaskets as did others advise also. I even applied a thin coat of Ultra-Copper on these as well. I purchased and installed the GM gaskets and also bought some ARP header bolts and Intense boot protectors while I was at it. I figured better to do it now than take the system back apart later ( the engine had not been run). FYI I also replaced the O2 sensor. I was really impressed with the Easy-Seal clamps. They form a air-tight seal on the piping, especially when you also use a little Ultra-Copper just in case. So needless to say no leaks, running great. Then after a few test drives I made the trip into work (everything fine). On the way home SES light appears. Pull the code P0133. Checked the connections at the 02 extension harness, okay there. Cleared the code, watched the data, didn't really see anything off hand. Went down to the parts store where I purchased the Bosch 02 and got a replacement. Installed test drove and no problems that night (2 trips: roughly 10 miles). Today go to work and no problems. Coming home SES light comes on again. P0133. So I dove into the GM manuals, checked my extension harness again, checked for exhaust leaks, found none. Even tightened clamps at Y-pipe just for good measure. As of a few minutes ago I do a search on P0133 on the forum here and see that I'm not the only one who's had this problem after installing headers. Apparently some others have had the same problem after installing headers and replacing their 02 with yes, a Bosch. What to do?:hmmmm:

I swapped my old DHP1.0 PCM into my Regal in hopes of seeing if the PCM was bad somehow...no such luck.:icon_conf I even did a case learn on it(I'm getting pretty good at doing those now). I was seeing knock pretty much the entire time I have any throttle applied, up until I go over 60 MPH, then it goes away.:dontknow: The LTFT's were pretty wacked on that PCM too, as it was ~-10 or higher most of the time, and I didn't have time to fool with it. I also found out the DHP was locked.:pissed: Oh well. So, the Intense PCM is back in, and I'm going to turn the EGR diagnostics off next. The good news is there is absolutely no knock at WOT.:yippee:

i bought a regal LS last tuesday the 8th. right now im waiting for the engine and tranny to be put in. for those who dont know my engine mods i will post them now, started with a L36 block, then L67 heads(mild port and polished), then we did a ported and polished L67 LIM, a ported M90 gen III. then that was enough for me, i HATE :uzi: stock .so i ordered a S1X cam, 105 springs, modded retainers. had them installed. then the tranny 3.29 gears and a HD upgrade, and a Pettinelli Shift kit(the guy building my car did it).then i did more mild mods, FWI, 104 plugs 180* Tstat, P.E.Ms. im very awear to some that is slow, but from comeing up from a dodge stratus R/T coupe its pretty damn fast. but i get the feeling to just go fast . last friday i was cleaning on the regal and i sat down in the drivers seat. and i got the feeling. gripping the steering wheel getting the white knuckels.:icon_redf and it just gets me so excited to get it on the road.its like an addiction :icon_roll.i have been with out a car since April 2007. i bought the riv 2008. drove it a week then the motor acted up i was with out a car till june 2008. when we did the swap to S2 and 4t65e-HD tranny(same engine from above) then after we got it running Dave found a 98 regal for sale the guy wanted 400 bucks for it, i said 350. i bought the 98 regal. on the 8th of july as stated above.now the car has sat just waiting for the engine swap. its alot of stress on me, to be honest. waiting this long for a car to drive. im only 18 so i cant go out and buy a new car(credit BS). but i just had to get this off my chest. i worked a 55 hour week last week. and i need to let it all out. its pretty stressful not have a car to drive.and having to get a ride to work every day:icon_redf. ok now i should be good, sorry if you found this a waist of space, i just had to get it out. im so excited, about it, some nights i get like 2-3 hours of sleep. i start to dream about it and wake up and cant fall back to sleep.i just lay there for 3-4 hours, just thinking about it

Got the HPtuner, and the first thing I did was a case learn. Man, that took a bit of time, I guess I'm too impatient to thoroughly read directions and just jumped into it. If you haven't seen the HP software, there's a begin button, then it tells you to increase RPM's. I tried it about a dozen times, it would either almost immediately tell me the RPM's were too high, or wait till it hit the rev limiter. I finally figured out to quickly let off the throttle once it hit the limiter. Then it doesn't say anything...I thought I'd get "finished", "complete" or "You finally got it!". Nothing. I still haven't driven it for a scan, but since my cruise knock happens only at 55-60 MPH, I'll have to go for a drive. More to follow.

You could use blog entries to list news items your interested in or update people where you may be heading. You could detail a project you are working on and let people see how your progress grows.

Basically blogs can be used to talk about anything you would like. A public electronic diary if you will. I actually use my personal website to blog about various food, movie and computer reviews.

Welcome to my blog. I've put an XS1 cam, SLP headers, intake and cat back, a 3.3" pulley and ported supercharger on the car, along with mild ported heads and aftermarket single row timing chain. My LTFT's are a bit off on the rich side and I've discovered I've got huge part throttle knock at 1400-1600 RPM's, but only at cruise. The knock goes up to ~14 at times. As soon as I give it some gas, it degrades and goes away. I've got an HPtuner on the way and will attempt to find out why and how to fix it. My plan is to do a case learn first, in hopes that even without a SES, that may be the culprit. Next will be to put my old PCM back in, maybe I got a bad one and didn't know it? I've already checked to see if anything is hitting, and replaced my front motor mount to no avail, but it WAS bad anyway.
