Last month we posted that we had decided to build a daily-driven street car, and try to push the limits of the Stage 1X Blower cam using our ported fifth gen blower housing. We began a few weeks ago with a completely stock L36 bottom end, and bolted on all the fun stuff:
SLP 85 mm. MAF sensor
Stock (unported) LS1 throttle body
INTENSE ported fifth gen supercharger housing
INTENSE machined fifth gen supercharger snout
INTENSE modular pulley system with 2.70" pulley
INTENSE intercooler with new prototype pump** and radiator**
INTENSE ported L32 lower intake manifold
Walbro fuel pump****
Siemens 60 pound/hour fuel injectors****
INTENSE Stage 3 CNC cylinder heads
Cometic .052" MLS head gaskets
Stock L36 short-block with balance shaft removed
INTENSE Stage 1X Blower cam
Rollmaster double roller timing chain set
CompCams OE-R lifters
INTENSE 3/8" pushrods**
INTENSE 1.70:1 adjustable rocker arms
ATI harmonic balancer
INTENSE Custom
PCM (Stage 1 settings, plus dyno tuned)
Casper's Timing Commander
Jacobs Electronics spark plug wires
Autolite 103 spark plugs gapped at .044"
Meziere electric water pump
INTENSE 160 degree thermostat
SLP headers
2-1/2" cat-back exhaust system
INTENSE input shaft
ATI TCS-3250 torque converter
GM pawl sprag kit
INTENSE Shift Pak
INTENSE 3.69:1 gear conversion kit

****The Walbro fuel pump and 60 pound fuel injectors were added since last month’s dyno session.
We had to end last month’s dyno early because we had reached the limits of our stock fuel pump and 42.5 pound injectors. That was resolved with the installation of a Walbro fuel pump and 60 pound/hour Siemens fuel injectors.
Also, some observers noticed that our torque was reported low the last time. We explained that this was because the 3.69:1 gears and higher shift points forced us to begin the dyno pulls at such a high engine speed that we were already well past the peak torque. To prove this point, we lowered the down-shift points in the
PCM for this dyno session. This time out we were able to be at full throttle by 3,000 RPM without having to worry about a downshift, compared to 4,500 RPM the last time out.
All the dyno pulls were done with race gas, and we left the complete exhaust system in place. We also ran with 18" x 8" Konig Villain wheels with P255/45ZR18 tires (50 pounds each). Peak wheel horsepower was 395.4 @ 6,200 RPM, and peak wheel torque was 445.4 @ 3,800 RPM. Using the standard figure of 20% drivetrain loss, these numbers work out to 494.3 crankshaft horsepower and 556.8 foot-pounds of torque.
I now have about 2,000 miles on my new combination. This car makes INSANE horsepower, and still gets ~ 25 MPG with repeated WOT blasts and 3.69:1 gears. What a package! It makes me proud to run the Stage 1X Blower cam, Stage 3 CNC heads, ported fifth gen blower housing and
INTENSE Stage 1
PCM, and I would recommend them to anyone.
